1. Buy from Trusted Sellers

Before making a purchase, you have to check the seller’s reputation. Look at their ratings, reviews from previous customers, and how long they have been selling on the platform. A seller with consistently positive feedback is normally a safer choice than one with little or no history.

2. Read Product Descriptions Carefully

Not reading and understanding descriptions is a common mistake people make while shopping.

Don’t rely on pictures alone. Pictures can lie as product images are sometimes edited or taken under ideal lighting. Read the description to confirm the size, colour, material, specifications, and what is included in the package.

For clothing, shoes, or furniture, use the seller’s size chart and measure yourself or the space. Compare with similar items you already own.

3. Compare Prices

If a product is being sold at a price that seems too good to be true, then it probably deserves a second look or a third. Compare prices across different sellers or websites. Extremely low prices can sometimes indicate the product is of poor quality or that it’s a fraudulent listing.

4. Check and Understand the Return Policy

Before paying, find out whether the item can be returned or exchanged if it arrives damaged, defective, or different from what was advertised. Knowing the return policy can save you from stress or loss later.

5.  Trust Your Instincts

If something feels suspicious like pressure to pay immediately, vague product details, or unrealistic promises, it’s often better to walk away. Another vendor around will likely offer the same product without the risk.

6. Keep Your Receipts and Order Details

Save your order confirmation, payment receipt, and any conversations with the seller. These records can be useful in case you need to file a complaint or request a refund.

Check out these six things before you make payment for your order. While making payment, also be sure that you use your credit card or buyer protection services that offer better dispute options than direct bank transfers.
