Some men have taken to Nigerian X (formerly Twitter) to mimic phrases commonly used by women. These phrases often come from online debates, talking stages, dates, and relationship conversations.
For the past two days, in a rather sarcastic and satirical way, phrases used by women during discussions with their fellow women and as comments have been seen flying up and down the streets of Nigerian X, driven by men.
A tweet by @wizarab10 on March 24, 2026, is arguably a major spark of the ‘flipping-the-script’ trend. The X user tweeted, “This babe flew me to Dubai for 3 nights. Because I refused to have sex with her, she abandoned me there without booking my return ticket. We did not discuss sex before travelling. I thought she just wanted to dwell in my presence. Now I’m stranded.”

Some men understood the vibe and have made tweets quoting similar phrases relating to dates and relationships.
However, some have taken it so far, beginning to make it look like a gender war, which is contrary to what it started as. Typical Nigerian Twitter behaviour.
The satirical trend points out the hypocrisy in the dating discourse and online debates involving men. It has so far aimed at making people, especially women, see or hear what it sounds like when they make such statements. They are sarcastically saying, “Put yourselves in our shoes and imagine if we said the same things you say.”
This flip-the-script trend isn’t only happening on Nigerian X. TikTok caught the fire too, and it may have moved to other countries like Uganda, literally the same day @wizarab10 tweeted.
