The police have uncovered evidence suggesting that a personal assistant related to the family of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, allegedly conspired with the kidnappers of his sister and twin nephew. The suspect reportedly helped orchestrate their abduction in Ibadan.
On June 3, 2026, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul (Adelabu’s younger sister) and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted in Ibadan while she was driving them to school. With swift police action which included a raid on a kidnappers’ hideout on June 6, the victims were successfully rescued unharmed.

According to CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, early investigations point strongly to an insider. Someone with close access to the family is believed to have provided critical information. He also gave support to the criminals, thereby enabling the operation.
The security forces are now working tirelessly to apprehend every individual involved in the crime.
Authorities have reassured the public that they are ramping up efforts to dismantle the entire kidnapping syndicate and bring all perpetrators to justice.
According to The Guardian Nigeria, two suspects were killed in a gunfight during the operation. Several others, including the alleged insider personal assistant, were arrested.
As the probe deepens, more details about the Adebayo Adelabu family kidnap are expected to emerge in the coming days.
