Clients at i-Fitness Maryland faced an unexpected delay on Monday morning of September 14, NBG Africa exclusively gathered.

The gym failed to open at its usual time, leaving members waiting outside for more than an hour. The facility normally opens its doors to staff at 5 am on weekdays. Clients can then access the gym from 6 am.

However, the gym remained locked despite repeated attempts to reach the staff member on duty thus causing anxiety of his safety.

i-Fitness Management Eventually Opens the Facility

One of the clients who exclusively spoke with NBG Africa revealed that the situation changed when another management member arrived with a spare key. The official opened the gym and allowed the waiting clients inside.

The staff member responsible for opening the facility was later found asleep inside the gym. The client described the tense situation and said members initially feared something serious had happened to the staff who was to open the gym.

“Everyone was worried that the staff member had died,” the client said.

“Thankfully, someone else came with a key, and we got inside. We found out he had only been sleeping.”

Although the incident ended without injury, it left several clients concerned. They questioned the gym’s opening procedures and emergency access arrangements.

Clients Raise Questions Over Emergency Access

The delay has raised concerns about what happens when the staff member responsible for opening the gym cannot respond.

Clients want to know whether the facility has a reliable backup system. They also questioned why management took so long to gain access.

For many members, the incident highlighted the need for clearer procedures. A dependable emergency plan could prevent similar delays in the future.

The client who spoke with NBG Africa works in the corporate office and usually visits the gym before going to work. The incident affected her preparation for work on a Monday morning and at the same time meeting resumption deadline.

It would also reassure clients who arrive early for workouts before starting their workday.
