After years away from releasing new music, Banky W has teamed up with gospel star Victor Thompson for a new single titled “Super Power.” The song drops on November 6.
In a heartfelt Instagram post announcing the collaboration, Banky W opened up about how he didn’t expect coming back to music soon.
“I thought my music season was over. Apparently, God had other plans,” he wrote. “I wasn’t planning to record music again anytime soon. That ship had sailed. Or so I thought.” 
He described he started getting music ideas, lyrics, and melodies, and a persistent nudge he couldn’t ignore. Banky W says he resisted at first because he had been out of the music business for years and wondered if anyone would even care.

Eventually, he prayed a simple prayer: “Lord I feel like I have unfinished business with music.
You gave me this gift, and I want to give it back to You… if You give me the songs to sing, I’ll sing them.”
Three weeks later, Victor Thompson sent him a DM. The gospel singer, known for the massive hit “This Year (Blessings),” said he felt strongly that they were supposed to do a song together. That song became “Super Power.”
“More than a collaboration”
In the same post, Banky W, expressed that the project carries deeper meaning.
“This is so much more than a collaboration. It’s an act of obedience. A reminder that God’s timing doesn’t have to make sense to us, and that a chapter we think is closed might just be getting rewritten.”
After stepping back from consistent music releases following his 2021 project The Bank Statements, Banky W focused on other chapters. He acted in films like The Wedding Party, Up North, and Sugar Rush. He ran for office in 2023, and more recently stepped into pastoral ministry. Just weeks ago, he marked one year as Associate Pastor and Global Ambassador at Union Church in the United States.
Now the music is back, not as a return to the old era, but as something offered differently.
Super Power: A message for the tired
Banky W closed his post with a word for anyone feeling exhausted.
“This one is for YOU. Especially if you’ve been trying your hardest, giving your all, and still coming up short. If you’re tired, overwhelmed, or running on empty, remember: where your strength ends, His begins. You don’t have to do it all in your own power. Lean on Him.”
