Awards season means fashion season. The 2026 Brit Awards took place at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena on February 28, celebrating the best of British music. As expected, people of African descent were there looking absolutely fabulous while winning in their various categories.
British-Nigerian rapper Dave took home the award for Best Hip Hop Act for his critically acclaimed album, Boy Who Played the Harp. This make him a two-time Brit Awards winner.

British-Kenyan artist, Pink Pantheress also broke a record by being the first woman to win Producer of the year. Although they weren’t in attendance to physically receive the award, it was still a big moment.
Nigerian-British rapper, Skepta also won the award for Best Dance Act for ‘Fred again..’ He was live at the venue to receive his award.
Beyond the award, the guests embraced clean, fashion-forward aesthetics, the perfect balance of elegance and style.
Tems wore a feathered corset dress with a very African hairstyle – Koroba braids, while Skepta opted for a sleek leather jacket paired with tailored trousers. Across the board, the night proved once again that Africans don’t ‘carry last’ when it comes to fashion.
