Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen’s partner, Stefanie Kim Ladewig, has reportedly escaped injury after being involved in a three-vehicle road accident in Istanbul, Turkey.
The incident occurred at about 3:10 pm on Tuesday, October 13, in the Kemerburgaz Mithatpaşa neighbourhood of the Eyüpsultan district, according to Turkish news agency Demirören Haber Ajansı (DHA).
Ladewig, who is reportedly eight months pregnant, was driving an SUV when the collision occurred. She was subsequently taken to a private hospital for precautionary medical checks before being discharged. Reports indicate that no one involved in the crash sustained injuries. (DHA)
How Victor Osimhen’s partner was involved in the accident
According to Turkish media reports, the crash involved Ladewig’s SUV, another sport utility vehicle and a light commercial vehicle.
Ladewig reportedly struck the rear of a vehicle travelling ahead of her while negotiating a bend. Following the initial collision, she lost control of her SUV and hit another vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.
The impact damaged the vehicles, but authorities reported no injuries at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the accident have attracted attention in Nigeria because of Ladewig’s relationship with Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker who plays for Turkish club Galatasaray.
Pregnant girlfriend undergoes medical checks
Following the crash, Ladewig reportedly went to a private hospital in Istanbul’s Maslak area for medical examinations because of her pregnancy.
Turkish media reports said her condition was good and that she was discharged after completing the necessary checks.
The reports did not indicate that she or her unborn child had suffered any injury. However, no separate medical statement publicly confirming the condition of the pregnancy was identified in the reports reviewed.
The development has offered some reassurance amid concerns about the safety of Osimhen’s family following the incident.
Victor Osimhen faces difficult day on and off the pitch
The accident also came on a challenging day for Victor Osimhen, whose Galatasaray side suffered a 4-1 defeat to Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League fixture on Tuesday. The result compounded an already difficult day for the Nigerian forward, as news of his partner’s accident emerged from Istanbul.
Osimhen remains one of Nigeria’s most prominent footballers and a key figure for Galatasaray. This makes developments involving his family a subject of considerable interest among fans.
For now, reports from Turkey indicate that Ladewig was discharged after precautionary examinations and that no injuries were recorded in the three-vehicle collision.
Neither the accident nor the subsequent medical checks should be taken as evidence of a more serious outcome, with available reports indicating that she was in good condition after the incident.
