How Grammy Submissions and Voting Work
Artists and labels submit eligible recordings during the Online Entry Process. The 2027 Grammy submissions were open from July 7 to August 21.
The submission must have been released between August 31, 2025, and August 28, 2026. After screening for eligibility and proper category placement, the works go onto the ballot.
Only Voting Members of the Recording Academy, who are active music creators such as performers, songwriters, producers, and engineers, will cast the votes.
In the First Round Voting (currently open from October 12 to 22, 2026), they choose the nominees.
Most categories get five nominees; the big General Field categories (Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist) get eight. Final Round Voting later decides the winners.
