Nigerian gospel singer Evangelist Tope Alabi has taken legal action against Pastor Tayo, who claims to know the cause of Toluwanisings’ death and accused Alabi of ritualism.
On 23 October 2026, Alabi shared a formal public notice on her Instagram page. Oakmount Legal Practitioners also issued the notice on her behalf after Pastor Tayo labelled her a ritualist.
The document names her as Evangelist Patricia Temitope Alabi. It warns anyone who spreads false, misleading or damaging statements about her, on any platform or medium, with the aim of ruining her reputation.
What triggered the action
A woman who identifies herself as Pastor Tayo Ministries posted videos on Facebook on 22 and 23 October. In the videos, she accused Tope Alabi of using Toluwanisings to renew her glory and called her a ritualist.
She also alleged that Alabi, together with Woli Agba, Dele Omo Woli and Woli Arole, had some connection to Toluwanisings’ death. Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died in the early hours of 14 October 2026.
The videos drew significant attention online. Many users asked whether any evidence supports her claims. Before taking legal action, Alabi had publicly mourned Toluwanisings and described his passing as a big shock.

Who could be held liable
Tope Alabi’s lawyers warned that anyone who publishes defamatory content about her could be held personally liable. This applies to written posts, videos, audio, live streams and spoken word. The notice also states that sharing, reposting or forwarding such content carries legal risk.
The law firm said Alabi can ask the courts to order platforms to identify those responsible. It added that anonymous or pseudonymous identities do not automatically shield people from accountability.
The notice instructs anyone who has already published such content to remove it immediately. However, it makes clear that deletion will not erase responsibility for what has already been shared.
Possible court action
If Alabi files a lawsuit, her attorneys said they will pursue damages, injunctions, retractions and public apologies, among other remedies Nigerian law permits.
The notice ended with a reminder. Its purpose, the lawyers said, is to hold people accountable for inaccurate and damaging statements about her 30-year professional and personal standing. It does not aim to stifle honest reporting or fair public debate.
