Singer Peter Okoye has told the court that he received about $800,000 in royalties from French music rights organisation, SACEM, for P-Square’s music.
Peter, also known as Mr P, made the disclosure on Monday, September 21, while testifying virtually before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
He was answering questions from Jude Okoye’s lawyer, Clement Onwueunor, SAN, during cross examination. Peter says the money was for the artists. He admitted receiving the royalties but said he did not give any part of the money to Jude. 
When asked if he informed his elder brother about the payments, Peter reportedly replied:
“No, the money was for the artistes.”
He maintained that the royalties belonged to him and his twin brother, Paul, as the artists behind P-Square’s songs.
Peter also disputed Jude’s entitlement to the money, despite acknowledging that the manager had signed the SACEM agreement. He said Jude was not a member of P-Square but acknowledged that his elder brother directed some of the group’s music videos.
The court also heard questions about royalty records Peter requested in 2022. Mr P had claimed that Jude took more than three months to provide the records.
However, when his lawyer presented evidence that the request came on October 16 and the records arrived six days later, Peter said he had made an earlier request. He then admitted that he had no evidence of that request and could not recall the details.
The records covered royalty payments from 2016 to 2022. Peter said he requested them because some people were interested in buying P-Square’s music catalogue.
As earlier reported by NBGAfrica Jude and Northside Music Limited are facing fraud charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Jude has pleaded not guilty in court.
The court has adjourned further proceedings to December 8 and 9, 2026.
