Before the courtroom could settle the dispute, the Okoye family feud took another dramatic turn. Fresh claims and counterclaims have reignited the long-running disagreement between the brothers, with each side defending its position over Psquare’s music royalties. As the legal battle continues, Jude Okoye has publicly responded to the allegations Peter Okoye made against him, insisting that the facts support his defence.

Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, recently accused his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, of financial misconduct. However, Jude has rejected the allegations, describing them as deceptive and emotionally manipulative. The latest exchange marks another phase in the long-running conflict involving the Okoye brothers Peter, Paul, and Jude who once formed the music group Psquare.

Last week, Peter took to Instagram to accuse Jude of excluding him from part of the proceeds generated from their music catalogue. He also claimed that he was not a signatory to one of the bank accounts used to receive the group’s royalties and questioned a specific payment of $25,000.

Jude dismissed the allegations and insisted that he had never engaged in fraudulent activity. He maintained that the brothers shared all income from their musical ventures equally.

He also alleged that Peter deliberately avoided cross-examination in court because, according to him, “he knows he has failed.” Jude further claimed that Peter raised the allegations publicly to pressure him during the ongoing legal proceedings.

To support his defence, Jude presented what he described as records of royalty payments made in US dollars since 2012. He said the they consistently divided the payments into three equal shares.

“Jude plus Paul Okoye, $25,782. Peter Okoye, $12,891. Peter’s money was sent to him directly. At the same time, Jude’s and Paul’s money was sent to the Northside Entertainment account that they have in their system. Peter knows this. The EFCC has trashed it,” he said.

“He put it in front of the EFCC. It was cleared. Why is he bringing it to the media? If it is very important to him. He is going to spin emotional blackmail. To manipulate. To make me look like a bad person. Trying to fuse in Paul.”

Jude also said Peter had already received his share of the royalties directly. He backed his claim with what he described as bank documents and email exchanges.

“You are not signatory to the account. This is FCMB mandate that has been open till date. He said I told him that it is going to take three and a half months to send the catalogue. On the 16th of October, 2022, Peter called me, and I wanted the Psquare Records catalogue, back-end, and accounting.”

“He said he never received dollars as a royalty for Psquare. As you can see, this is the email they sent on June 30th.”

“And the amount due was $12,991.47. And this is how the money was later split into three. You can see here. This comes to $4,330.47 each. Northside Music Inc., $4,330. Peter Okoye, $4,300.”

“He was screaming like he got a huge amount of hundreds of thousands of dollars from the royalty. I am not allowed to say much about it. But I’m going to divulge a little so you can see that this guy has been receiving dollars from 2012.”

“In February 2017, we were paid twice to the Northside Entertainment Account, which is $16,034 and $12,689. They amount to about $28,000. As you can see, within a short period, Peter Okoye, Paul Okoye, and Jude Okoye kept and split the money into three. And he said he has never received dollars.”

As both brothers continue to defend their positions publicly and in court, the dispute has drawn attention to the financial affairs of the former Psquare group. While Jude insists that the royalty payments were transparent and fairly shared, Peter continues to challenge that account. The ongoing legal proceedings are expected to determine the facts surrounding the allegations and bring greater clarity to the long-running family dispute.
