Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack has embarked on an extraordinary journey to make history. The Nigerian woman is attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest Holy Bible reading marathon by reading continuously for 144 hours in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The record attempt, titled “144 Hours in the Word,” began on June 22 at the Novotel in Port Harcourt and is scheduled to conclude on July 2 in line with official Guinness World Records guidelines.
On Saturday, Habibat reached the 100-hour milestone, moving into the final phase of the endurance challenge.
The 27-year-old from Ibadan read aloud for 215 hours nearly nine days to break the previous record of 124 hours set in 2022 by Rysbai Isakov.
Videos circulating online showed her reading aloud from both a lectern and a desk while digital timers tracked her progress. Supporters also cheered her on throughout the event.
The organisers stated that they are conducting the attempt in accordance with Guinness World Records regulations, which require participants to read continuously aloud and allow only limited breaks for essential needs.

Habibat, a member of The Summit Bible Church in Port Harcourt, described the challenge as a faith-based initiative designed to inspire deeper Bible study and encourage greater engagement with Scripture.
Family members, friends, church members, and supporters have backed the challenge, while social media users have amplified awareness of the attempt amid Nigeria’s growing interest in endurance-based record pursuits.
Her attempt comes months after Guinness World Records announced that Nigerian Samson Ajao holds the world record for the longest marathon read-aloud.
