Lekki-Epe road repairs will disrupt traffic for 35 days. The Lagos State Government is working on damaged sections of the expressway. The project covers Bonny Camp, Admiralty Way Junction and parts of Victoria Garden City.
Officials announced the plan at a stakeholders’ meeting on Wednesday, October 14. Officials plan to start work on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Peak traffic may slow journeys. Traffic diversions will keep vehicles moving during the work.
The government urged residents, businesses and motorists to cooperate. The route connects homes, offices, schools and major industrial investments.
It also serves the Lekki Free Zone, Dangote Refinery and Lekki Deep Sea Port. Pan-Atlantic University and other institutions also depend on the corridor.
Special Adviser on Infrastructure Olufemi Daramola said the repairs would improve safety. He said officials were also addressing drainage concerns along the route. Residents fear poor drainage could worsen flooding during construction.
The Victoria Island and Ikoyi Residents Association called for urgent upgrades. Other stakeholders requested continuous traffic control throughout the project. They want officials to direct vehicles and prevent gridlock. Stakeholders also asked the government to keep alternative routes motorable.
They called for adequate security during the construction period. State officials said they have rehabilitated 69.44 kilometres of the expressway. Those sections include reinforced concrete and flexible pavement works.
This latest intervention targets damaged portions that still affect daily movement. Motorists should allow extra time for their journeys. They should check updates from Lagos authorities and traffic agencies.
Drivers should avoid unverified claims about diversion routes.Businesses should plan deliveries and staff movement around possible delays.Clear signs and active traffic control will help limit confusion.Timely completion will also reduce pressure on commuters.
The Lekki-Epe road repairs may cause delays across the corridor. Good coordination can prevent the project from creating prolonged gridlock.
