Nigerian music promoter and socialite Sam Larry is currently receiving hospital treatment following a road accident along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road in Lagos State. The crash occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning when the vehicle carrying him collided with a heavy-duty trailer. His security aide, who was with him at the time, died at the scene.
New circulating online reports suggest that Sam Larry sustained a major spinal cord injury in the crash and may be facing serious mobility complications. These claims have not been officially confirmed by his representatives or any medical institution at the time of publication.
Who Is Sam Larry?
His real name is Samson Balogun. A Lagos socialite and music promoter, he moves in the same circles as Naira Marley and the ‘Marlian Music camp’ and has been one of the more polarising figures in Nigerian entertainment for some time. 
Most Nigerians outside the music industry came to know his name through a far darker story. When singer Mohbad died in September 2023, the grief that swept across Nigerian social media quickly turned into a demand for accountability. Sam Larry’s name surfaced in the middle of it, as he was publicly accused of bullying and intimidating the late singer during his time with Marlian Music. A video that appeared to show a physical altercation involving him and Mohbad circulated widely, intensifying calls for an investigation. The Lagos State Police Command arrested and invited him for questioning. He denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death and was later released, but his name had already become permanently attached to one of Nigerian entertainment’s most painful chapters.
He has continued working as a promoter and socialite since then.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when Sam Larry’s vehicle collided head-on with a trailer. The force of the impact left the car visibly destroyed, with debris spread across the highway. Emergency responders extracted him from the wreckage and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he remains under care.
Photographs and videos circulating on social media showed severe front-end damage to the vehicle, giving a clear picture of just how violent the collision was. Comedian and MC Mario Wazobia was among the first public figures to acknowledge the incident, sharing images of the mangled car on Instagram with a straightforward appeal: “Pray for Sam Larry.”
The claims about the spinal cord injury and potential mobility issues began surfacing after the initial accident reports spread.
