Princess Ntuk Williams, better known as DJ Pretty Play, has finished her attempt to break the world record for the longest marathon club DJing.

The entertainer started the 288-hour challenge on March 11 at Bay Lounge in Lekki, Lagos, and finished it on Monday.

The current record stands at 244 hours and two minutes by Italy’s Faber Moreira on May 26, 2024.

Prior to the attempt, she described it as a mission to test the limits and demonstrate the power of discipline and determination.

She described the attempt as a mission to test limits and demonstrate the strength of discipline and determination.

I step out with one mission – to push beyond limits and attempt history. This is more than a challenge; it’s about discipline, passion, and proving that with determination, anything is possible,” she wrote.

I’m officially attempting to break the Guinness world records for the Longest Marathon Club DJ-ing, and every second counts.”

Several celebrities, including film stars Anita Joseph, Charles Okocha, Ini Edo, and singers D’banj and Slimcase, cheered her on during the record-breaking attempt.

Her first try, which started on March 3, ended on the third day when she accidentally repeated songs breaking Guinness World Records’ rule that no song can be played twice within four hours.

It’s rather unfortunate that I have to restart my 288-hour DJing attempt. According to GWR guidelines, you can’t repeat a song within four hours, and it means instant disqualification. So, as it stands, I have been disqualified and have to start all over,” she said.

Her achievement now awaits official verification from Guinness World Records.

While Guinness World Records has stringent verification requirements, marathon DJ records typically involve continuous music sets under controlled conditions, with breaks governed by GWR rules. DJ Pretty Play’s attempt must follow these guidelines, which include documented hours, video evidence, and independent witnesses.

If she is successful, she will become one of the few international DJs who have officially broken records for marathon DJing, solidifying her status as one of Nigeria’s top female DJs and elevating Nigerian DJs’ profile internationally.
