Charles Inojie, a veteran Nollywood actor, has questioned how some young actresses who have minor roles in films can afford expensive automobiles and multi-million-naira homes.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Inojie raised questions about the huge gap between the small roles some actresses play in Nollywood and the expensive lifestyles they display outside the industry.

He said some female actresses start their careers by struggling to secure small roles in films. However, he wondered how quickly some of them progress from those roles to buying expensive cars and properties.

“New-age female actresses come into the industry struggling with small roles here and there. The next thing you hear is that I just got a 2025 Range Rover from them.”

“N40 million is not her mansion; that one they usually give their mum. She just got N40 million mansion for her mum. The one wey she dey stay na for N150 million thereabout.”

“Now you con dey begin to dey ask yourself, wetin dey happen? Is it that after they don pay us finish dey con call some people back? And I no offend anybody.”

The veteran actor then suggested that some actresses may have other sources of income outside acting.

“But you know that for the female folk, their streams of income many. I know some of my politician friends go call me. In fact, e get some of them wey if e call me I know say e dey watch Africa Magic.

“So na e be multiple streams of income for them.”

Inojie’s comments point to the possibility of political connections playing a role in the financial lives of some actresses. However, he did not identify any actress or provide evidence that politicians directly fund the lifestyles of particular actresses.

His remarks have therefore raised a broader question about how some entertainers can afford expensive cars and multi-million-naira properties despite earning relatively modest amounts from the acting roles they initially took.
