After revealing his financial struggles, the BBNaija star is shutting down interviews and asking for something more useful: jobs.

Former BBNaija housemate Danboskid is facing sharp criticism online after shutting down media requests for interviews about his personal struggles.

Instead of continuing the pity narrative that followed his viral video last week, he asked for jobs, and many have branded him “broke and proud.”

On September 11, Danboskid made his stance clear via a post on his X account.

He told blogs, TV stations, and podcasters reaching out to him to tell Nigerians about my situation that they would meet a “dead end.”

Danboskid wrote that the original video was not made for the country or the whole world. He clarified that he did it for himself, as a way to break out of the box he had put himself into. He admitted that the Nigerian “pity me” wave can feel sweet in the short term, but warned it would only last a while if he failed to fix his life.

Instead of the pity, he put out his skills, asking for jobs.

“So here’s one thing y’all can please help do: I sabi act, I be correct model, if you get big stomach and small yansh, I fit help you change the situation for gym. Please give me jobs; I’m active! Thank you, he wrote.”

“Broke and Proud”

In reaction to the post, the comment section is full of users who immediately called him broke and proud. They’ve accused him of lacking humility at a time when he should be more open. According to some, media interviews could have given him wider visibility and potential opportunities.

The blunt ones are telling him to “gym his brains as well” or warning that pride would not solve his problems. However, a few defended him, saying he has the right to reject being turned into content and that asking for work is more dignified.

The Video That Started It

This backlash follows a video reported by NBG Africa that Danboskid posted on September 2.

Danboskid, who was one of the early evictees of BBNaija Season 10, revealed in the video that he had moved back into the family home and was sleeping in his sister’s room.

He spoke about being close to rock bottom financially and mentally, adding that his father is still a tenant, and described the household as being under real strain.

Danboskid also mentioned almost selling his laptop and shared plans that included producing a movie, starting an accessories brand, and driving for Uber. At the time, he insisted he was not seeking pure pity but advice and practical support.

That video went viral and attracted heavy media attention, which he is now pushing back against.
