It is official. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu returns as host of Big Brother Naija for the ninth consecutive season. Season 11 kicks off this July. The announcement has already sent Nigerian social media into its familiar pre-season excitement, and honestly, was anyone surprised?
The Man Who Became Bigger Than the Show
Ebuka’s relationship with BBNaija started long before he became its host. He first entered the house in 2006 as a housemate in the inaugural season of Big Brother Nigeria. That makes him the only person in the show’s history to go from contestant to host.
He took on the hosting role from Season 2 in 2017 and has not looked back since. Nine seasons later, his presence on that stage has become as much a part of BBNaija as the drama inside the house.
Born in Benin City, Edo State, Ebuka trained as a lawyer before building one of the most recognisable media careers in Nigeria. Beyond BBNaija, he hosts Rubbin’ Minds on Channels TV. He has also co-hosted The Spot and Men’s Corner on EbonyLife Television. Multiple major brands count him among their ambassadors. His estimated net worth sits at $5 million.
But what keeps him on that BBNaija stage is not just his profile. His ability to stay neutral in one of the most emotionally charged environments on Nigerian television sets him apart. He treats every housemate fairly. His eviction night outfits have become almost as discussed as the evictions themselves.

What to Expect
BBNaija Season 11 applicants must hold Nigerian citizenship. The age requirement falls between 21 and the age reached before June 2026. Applicants must hold a minimum O-level qualification. They must also prepare to spend 90 days in the house without any outside contact.
The full housemate lineup, theme, and prize details are yet to come. However, with a July start date confirmed and Ebuka locked in, the countdown has officially begun.
Season 11 is coming. If the past nine seasons say anything, it is going to be a lot.
