Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), who describes himself as a social justice advocate fighting corruption and oppression in Nigeria, has faced backlash for interfering in the Okoye family feud.
VDM recently brought out receipts and challenged claims made by Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P. This was after Peter came online to debunk what social media critic described as lies that people had told about him and his family for years. Peter also shared his side of the story and presented evidence to support his claims.
For years, people have linked the P-Square split to Peter’s wife, Lola Okoye, with claims that she contributed to the brothers’ separation. Peter recently came forward to explain what happened over the years, stressing that his wife had nothing to do with the split.
Peter said his brother, Jude Okoye, who managed P-Square, played a major role in the group’s separation. He also alleged that Jude took millions of dollars from him without his knowledge and said the situation had gone beyond his imagination.
While narrating his experience, Peter presented evidence which he said showed that Jude had been siphoning money into Northside Music. He claimed that the money should not have gone there. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently investigating the alleged diversion of funds.
Peter’s narration gave the public a different perspective on the long-running dispute. He said his twin brother, Paul Okoye, and Jude, had over the years portrayed him and his wife as the reasons behind the split.
VDM Wades into the Okoye Family Feud
However, VeryDarkMan, who leads a group of followers known as the Ratels, came forward to challenge Peter’s account and the evidence he presented.
VDM argued that when Peter took Jude to court, the court asked him to provide evidence against Jude. He alleged that Mr P allegedly failed to provide sufficient evidence. The critic questioned why Peter would later come online to seek public sympathy and said he would not become part of what he described as that narrative.
VDM Faces Backlash Over the Okoye Family Drama
Verydarkman’s position has attracted criticism from members of the public, who questioned why he had involved himself in the Okoye’s family dispute.
Critics argued that VDM had no personal involvement in the Okoye family and questioned what he hoped to achieve by presenting receipts to challenge Peter’s account. Some also said that Peter’s story reflected his personal experience and that VDM could not speak about an experience he did not personally have.
Amid the backlash, some members of the public urged Peter not to respond to VDM’s videos.

The self-acclaimed advocate later addressed the criticism in a video, saying he had seen comments from people telling Peter not to respond to him. He then shared a chat between himself and Peter and claimed that he was the one who stopped responding to the singer.
According to VDM, he stopped taking Peter’s calls after he realised that Peter “wanted to use my head”, adding that he did not like the situation.

VeryDarkMan Shares Details of Peter Okoye’s Chat
VDM also claimed that Peter approached him because of his influence on social media. He alleged that Peter told him the story about his family because he wanted him to call out his brothers.
However, the chats the critic shared appeared to give the public a different understanding of why Peter contacted him.
After reading the messages, some members of the public noted that Peter contacted VDM to help a lady recover money she had allegedly lost to a scam. They argued that Mr P reached out to VDM because of his reputation for exposing alleged scammers and helping victims recover their money.
The messages Peter reached out to VDM and asked him to hear the lady out.

Scammed Lady Opens Up on Why Peter Okoye Chatted VeryDarkMan
Nollywood actress , Ogechukwu Anasor, has claimed to be the scammed lady Peter Okoye spoke with VDM about. She came forward to clear the air. Anasor claimed Peter stood by her during one of the most difficult periods of her life, when she felt ashamed to tell her story.
She said Peter personally helped her recover the money she had lost to the alleged scam and added that she would remain grateful to him for his support.
Anasor said the reason Peter chatted VDM up was to help her trace her scammers and retrieve her money.

Her explanation has raised clarified the reasons Peter contacted VDM for help. It also raised concerns about authenticity of VDM’s claim.
As the disagreement continues, the public remains divided over VDM’s intervention in the Okoye family feud. They also query his decision to challenge Peter’s account of the events that led to the P-Square split.
