The feud between Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday and reality TV star Phyna has moved beyond social media.
The two entertainers got into a heated confrontation during a recent appearance on The Morayo Show. Their meeting came days before their scheduled celebrity boxing match in Lagos.
A video from the the Morayo Show showed Phyna and Nkechi exchanging words as they discussed their ongoing dispute and upcoming fight. The argument soon escalated, with both women getting out of their seats and confronting each other. 
Host Morayo Afolabi-Brown attempted to separate them as the situation became physical. At one point, Nkechi pushed Morayo aside while trying to get closer to Phyna.
Other people in the studio eventually stepped in as the confrontation continued.
How the Feud Started
The tension between Phyna and Nkechi did not begin on The Morayo Show. Their disagreement had already played out on social media before organisers announced the boxing match.
Nkechi posted a video criticising the way Phyna speaks to people online. She accused the former Big Brother Naija winner of becoming a “nuisance” and said she needed to change how she addressed people.
Nkechi also brought up their age difference. The actress, who said she is 37, told Phyna that they were not mates.
The comments quickly escalated the disagreement.
Phyna Fires Back
Phyna responded with her own Instagram video.
She rejected Nkechi’s criticism and accused the actress of looking for attention. She also mocked the age comment by referring to Nkechi as a “grandma.”
Phyna went further by questioning the actress’ lifestyle and accusing her of presenting a false image online.
What started as a disagreement over their previous interaction soon became a much more personal exchange.
Both women continued addressing each other publicly as the feud gained attention online.
The disagreement eventually created the backdrop for a celebrity boxing match between them.
From Instagram to the Boxing Ring
Phyna and Nkechi will face each other on October 1, 2026. The match forms part of Balmoral Group Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
Organisers have promoted the bout as Phyna vs Nkechi, with promotional material showing both women dressed in boxing gear.
The event will also include other entertainment personalities. Reports say Portable and Speed Darlington will appear on the fight card.
Organisers plan to broadcast the event live on DAZN and SuperSport.
The series has previously brought Nigerian entertainers into the boxing ring, including Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe.
This time, Phyna and Nkechi will headline the contest. Reports also describe their match as the first female celebrity headline bout under the series.
