Nigerian content creator Tunde Perry has advised businessman King Ochacho to reduce the amount of money he spends promoting his son, Ice King Ochacho.
In a recent video, Perry acknowledged the young singer’s talent but argued that excessive financial backing could eventually work against his music career.
“Ochacho, your son has a good voice, but if you continue like this, you will spoil his career,” he said. 
Perry urged the businessman to stop giving money to people in an attempt to promote his son’s music. He said:
“Stop using your money to promote your son, everything is not about money.”
Perry claimed some of those accepting the money may not genuinely support the young artiste or even know his songs. He also argued that Ice King should have an opportunity to build an audience around his music rather than have his father’s wealth dominate his career.
According to Perry, constant financial promotion could create questions around future collaborations with established musicians. He said people may assume King Ochacho paid for such collaborations instead of recognising his son’s music.
Perry also referenced Ice King’s collaboration with 2Baba during his comments.
“I heard he has a song with 2Baba, but I no go cast am,” he said.
Perry’s comments come amid the growing attention around the level of support King Ochacho has given his son’s career.
Earlier in September, Ochacho pledged to spend $1 million promoting Ice King’s forthcoming album. He told content creator Peller that he was willing to pay influencers and social media handlers to promote the project.
As earlier reported by NBGAFRICA, Ochacho had recently addressed speculations surrounding the house he gifted Peller. The businessman denied that he gave Peller the property in exchange for promoting Ice King’s music. He maintained that the gift came without conditions.
Ice King, whose real name is Shedrack Mohammed Adah, is a 13-year-old rapper and Afrobeats singer from Otukpo, Benue State. He developed an interest in music at a young age and started freestyling around seven. A freestyle video later helped him gain traction online.
His early releases include E Choke, which later received a remix featuring Teni. He followed with other songs, including Ochacho Money and Oh Papa. In 2025, the young singer released his six-track debut EP, I’m Back. He has also performed alongside established Nigerian artistes, including 2Baba.
Perry maintained that his message was not an attempt to secure money or a place among those promoting Ice King. Instead, he described it as advice to the singer’s father. He urged Ochacho to allow his son to develop his career more independently and let listeners connect with the music on its own.
