A South African man, Meshach, says the relationship between South Africans and Ghanaians in South Africa is fantastic; hence, the need for more Ghanaians in South Africa.
In a video posted on X by @xghana, he says he believes South Africa should give Ghanaians land where only they can reside.
“Ghanaian people in South Africa are fantastic. We are working hand-in-hand. We never have any problem with Ghanaian people. They’ve never been reported at a police station for any kind of problem,” he said.
“So I want to thank all Ghanaian people. ‘Guys, you are fantastic.’ We need more Ghanaian people. I think we need to give them land where only Ghanaian people will live in South Africa. They deserve it. And also, we need our own in Ghana. The relationship is fantastic. I tell you, we don’t regret it,” Meshach added.

However, many South Africans in the comment section are not in support. Many say they don’t need Ghanaians in South Africa. A user, @LadyMpopi, like many others, noted that Meshach’s accent is not South African and that “no South African will ever say this, especially at a time we are fighting mass immigration.”
“Give foreigners land for what?” she asked.
On the other hand, a few South Africans gave instances of once having good Ghanaian teachers and them being the “cherry on the top.”
As expected, the ever-present sibling rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria also found its way into the discourse, adding another layer of intrigue to the conversation. What started as a commendation of Ghanaians has now evolved into a broader reflection of inter-African relationships.

Some Nigerians say South Africans know that Ghanaians are conformists, weak, and easily manipulated; that’s why they want them. South Africans say Ghanaians don’t sell drugs and don’t date South African women like Nigerians do, which is why they love them.
Interestingly, this follows only weeks after a Nigerian was crowned a traditional king in South Africa, an event that stirred tensions. Many South Africans strongly criticized the development.
