Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi Nze has revealed how she and her husband, actor Stan Nze, successfully balance their personal and professional life by considering each other like business partners whenever they collaborate.

During an interview with Ifedayo Agoro on Dear Ife Series, Blessing noted that many people mistakenly feel that married couples should not charge each other for professional services. However, she stated that she and her husband avoid mixing emotions and business because they want to protect both their relationship and their jobs.

When the interviewer asked, “What’s working with your husband like? Because I know both of you work together a lot, so what is that like?” Blessing said working together has been rewarding, but people often misunderstand how they handle their professional relationship.

She revealed that many people believe she doesn’t have to pay Stan when they work on the same production because they are husband and wife.

“It’s good, but people usually say, ‘You are enjoying yourself. You don’t need to pay your husband. You can just keep making your films.’ That is a lie. My husband collects his money because it is a business.”

She further stressed that they have built successful careers independently and believe each person deserves to receive professional respect and fair compensation for their work. According to her, they see themselves as separate brands rather than as one unit whenever business is involved.

“We are brands. He is Stan Nze, and I am Blessing Obasi Nze. I kept the name Obasi because Blessing Obasi worked hard to build that name. I cannot simply throw the name away. That is why I call myself Blessing Obasi Nze.”

She added that her maiden name symbolises years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication in the film industry. Keeping the name, she explained, shows her unique identity before marriage while also accepting her husband’s surname.
Blessing added that separating marriage and business allows them to continue enjoying each other’s talents rather than taking them for granted.

“We separate both because it is important. You don’t want to become too familiar with someone’s talent. That is not good. You need to honour the person’s gift, respect their talent and value their work.”

The actress noted that respect plays a major role in their relationship. She believes couples who work together should recognise each other’s professional value and avoid making decisions based solely on their personal relationship.

She also stated that they run their production company with clear business frameworks and financial accountability. Blessing claims that every production follows the same procedure, regardless of who is involved.

“We have a studio and equipment. If he is shooting a project, he pays the company. If he does not pay, I will deduct it from his money. When I hire you for a film, I pay you and treat you well. So, when I also come to act in your project, you should pay me.”

Blessing explained that this approach keeps their business organised and prevents unnecessary misunderstandings. By following the same financial rules for everyone, they ensure fairness and professionalism in every project.

She added that although they jointly own some businesses, they still maintain proper structures that clearly define how money is managed and shared.

“There are some businesses that belong to both of us. We simply have a proper structure. When the money comes in, we know exactly how much we have.” The actress also praised Stan for his honesty and transparency, saying those qualities have made it easier for them to manage both their marriage and business interests. “The good thing about my husband is that he is truthful and transparent. I don’t have to chase him or ask, ‘How much did they pay this month?’ He is always the one who updates me.”
