In a candid interview on the popular Lucky Idu show, Abiodun ‘Papa Ajasco’ Ayoyinka revealed the unfortunate realities of his current living conditions and career stagnation, which he blames primarily on the constraints of his iconic role.
Nigerian Producer, Wale Adenuga, has responded to his claims by Abiodun, dismissing suggestions of neglect and financial hardship.
To clarify the situation, Adenuga, the Producer of Papa Ajasco Comedy show, said in a recent statement that he felt compelled to respond following what he described as widespread misinformation and emotional reactions trailing Ayoyinka’s Recent Media Interview
Ayoyinka explained that Wale Adenuga has officially trademarked the character ‘Papa Ajasco’. This trademark has resulted in an extensive embargo, preventing him from using the character or the associated costume for any purpose other than official productions.

He described Ayoyinka as a talented actor who closely resembles the original Papa Ajasco character, which he created in 1976, and stated that there is no irreconcilable difference between the two.

The producer stated that Ayoyinka had a long career as a civil servant with the Lagos State Government, serving for over three decades and actively participating in cultural performances during his service years.
Addressing allegations of financial neglect, Adenuga stated that the actor has received various forms of assistance over the years, including the provision of vehicles, and that he also owns multiple cars and a house in Ogun State.
Adenuga added that the Papa Ajasco cast only works for about six weeks of production each year, so they still have plenty of time to chase other jobs. He said “the organisation pays them according to industry standards and meets all its financial obligations when they are due. As a result, any narrative suggesting financial abandonment or exploitation by our organization is completely false and misleading,” he stated.
He explained that Ayoyinka is free to take other acting jobs, but he cannot use the Papa Ajasco name or image for his own projects because of copyright protection. He added that the company enforces these rules to protect and maintain the brand’s integrity.
