The moment went viral almost instantly, sparking arguments of disbelief, fake pastors, and miracles.

“As both a Christian and a medical professional, all I can say is WOW!

Social Media Views On Pastor Chris’ Healings

Nigerians did not hold back after this. They accused Pastor Chris of deception, saying the people didn’t look frail and that the scene resembled an acting theatre more than a miracle.

Others dismissed the healing as staged because real rehabilitation usually takes months.

Some others questioned the lack of medical verification.

Amidst all of the negative backlash were also staunch supporters, church members, and beneficiaries of the clergy’s healing ministry who insisted that the miracles were real.

One of such was Big Brother Naija star Pere Egbi, who shared a very personal experience with Pastor Chris.

In his post, Pere recounted attending a Faith Clinic service many years ago when he had complications in his left hand from surgery.

According to him, Pastor Chris came up to him, held his hand, looked at him, and simply said, “Healed.” Today, Pere says his hand remains healed.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s healing school is not new to this negative backlash of fake miracles. He founded Christ Embassy (also known as LoveWorld Incorporated) in the late 1980s, and over the decades his ministry has grown into a global network of churches, media outlets, and healing programmes.

His flagship healing initiative, Healing Streams Live, draws millions of viewers around the world, often claiming extraordinary healings and spiritual breakthroughs.

According to ministry records, past events have drawn attendance figures in the billions and countless testimonies of healing, from chronic pain to more serious ailments.

Christ Embassy also used to host programmes like Atmosphere for Miracles on TV channels before the Nigerian government and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned the broadcast in 2004 following controversies regarding the veracity of the miracles shown.

So what is real, and what is fake?

We might never know. On one side are the doubting Thomases demanding proof, and on the other are personal testimonies like Pere’s, which are difficult to ignore or explain away.

Whether you view healing through the lens of faith, medicine, or somewhere in between, moments like these will continue to ignite intense conversations.

So, maybe live and let live.
