Korra and Justin Dean, an American chiropractor, met on Tinder while she was teaching dance in China. Their connection was pretty quick: she moved in after about three weeks. They married in December 2017 with a traditional Nigerian ceremony in Lagos.

They gave us interracial “couples’ goals.” They posted loving posts, dance videos, and family moments that positioned them as a perfect family.

Their first daughter, June, arrived around 2019, followed by Athena in early 2022. Behind the highlights, however, were the financial strains Korra later detailed.

The Catwoman Hustle

In an interview with One54 Africa Podcast, she explained that while she was pregnant with her first child, she hustled to make ends meet. She took to the streets of Hollywood Boulevard in a Catwoman costume, dancing for tips to cover the over $5,400 hospital delivery fee. On better days, she earned up to $700.

When it was time for her second daughter, she chose a more affordable home birth and streamed it online. Although that decision drew mockery at the time but helped generate income toward stability and a house down payment.

Public Heartbreak and Resilience

The public facade shattered dramatically just days after Athena’s birth in March 2022. Justin announced on Instagram that he was filing for divorce. He cited mental health struggles, verbal issues, and relational strain.

The announcement stunned followers who had invested in their story. Korra initially apologized to fans. She emphasized her focus on her newborn and career, as social media had become her primary source of income.

What followed was a messy, very public divorce finalized in November 2022, marked by accusations from both sides.

Korra spoke of financial hardship, postpartum vulnerability, and feeling unsupported (including alleged infidelity). Justin, on the other hand, highlighted concerns over social media focus, narcissism, and emotional dynamics.

There were public apologies, custody battles, and restraining orders. There was also ongoing co-parenting friction that spilled into 2026, including disputes over spousal support, child visuals on social media, and relocation talks.

How Korra Feels Now

On the One54 Africa Podcast, Korra reflected with sincerity and forward momentum rather than dwelling solely on bitterness.

She described her strict military household upbringing in Lagos and how it instilled discipline.Korra also spoke of her Nollywood roots, and the global dance journey that took her to China before the US. She recounted the quick Tinder-to-marriage timeline, the Nigerian wedding, and the harsh realities that followed.

Korra framed the marriage’s end as a catalyst for “metamorphosis.” She detailed trying to salvage the relationship postpartum by showing up with gifts, cake, and flowers after days of silence—before choosing independence.

While acknowledging pain, her tone emphasized growth, resilience, and unapologetic ambition. As of 2026, she continues releasing music, performing, and managing her platform (millions of followers across Instagram and beyond), celebrating milestones like rising Spotify listeners.

Ongoing legal and co-parenting challenges persist, with reports of court restrictions on posting the children and occasional public flare-ups. Yet Korra positions 2026 as a year of elevation, focusing on career and self.
