Ghanaian singer Gyakie and fashion influencer Charlie Dior are currently going back and forth online after Charlie Dior publicly criticised the outfit the singer wore to the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Gyakie has built a reputation as one of Ghana’s leading contemporary female artists with her viral breakout hit “Forever” featuring Nigerian artist Omah Lay, while Charlie Dior has become one of the most outspoken fashion critics in Ghana’s entertainment space, often reviewing celebrity red carpet appearances with blunt commentary.

The drama started after Gyakie stepped out for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards in a heavily embellished blue gown. The dress was a royal blue floor-length covered in sparkling stones and crystal detailing. The upper part of the dress came with a silver mirrored corset-style bodice before fading into a glittering blue skirt with a dramatic train spread across the floor. She completed the look with a matching blue mesh veil wrapped around her head and face, giving the outfit a very theatrical appearance.

Not long after photos and videos from the event surfaced online, Charlie Dior shared his thoughts on the outfit during one of his fashion reviews, and he did not hold back.

“That’s why this looks, to me, very, very frustrating. The whole look is just here. The colour. Even the placement of the stones – I don’t understand it. And why finish this look with this decorative mosquito net? I don’t understand. Can we talk? If we want to get to the level of Tyla, if we want to get to the level of even Ayra Starr and Tems, we cannot give looks like this. I’m very frustrated because we love Gyakie and we love Gyakie’s music, but there is a disconnect here,” he reviewed.

His comments immediately drew mixed reactions online. While some people agreed with his review, others felt the criticism was too harsh.

Gyakie later appeared to respond through Snapchat after reposting parts of Charlie Dior’s critique alongside photos of the influencer wearing outfits that some social media users considered equally dramatic.

Her followers quickly joined in with several mocking comments.

“Oh please don’t do that to our fashionista.”

“Is that a cotton bud?”

“We will burnnnnnnn it.”

“Songbird, if you leave the kitchen in err, the way ago, vexxx, co0000000000000k that thing!”

Charlie Dior later reacted on Instagram, writing:

“Not the songbird shading meeeeee. Like I said, we’ve BEEN doing that look. It’s giving overkill at this point. Change your style? Be like that.”

The fashion influencer also reposted several blog posts and reactions about Gyakie’s response, keeping the back and forth alive across social media.

What started as a simple red carpet review has now turned into a full online exchange between the singer and the fashion critic, with fans picking sides and dragging old outfits, old opinions and past fashion moments into the argument.
