A storm is brewing online and at the center of it is popular Nigerian singer and hypeman, Segun Johnson.
A UK-based woman identified as Debra Akin has gone viral after sharing a heartbreaking account of how their alleged 13-year relationship came crashing down just weeks after she uprooted her entire life for him.
In an emotional video making the rounds on social media, Debra claimed she had been living comfortably and independently in the United Kingdom before Segun Johnson convinced her to return to Nigeria so they could finally build a future together. According to her, the decision wasn’t an easy one. 
She admitted she initially resisted the idea, worried about becoming dependent on him. But she said the singer reassured her repeatedly, promising to support her and make settling in easy. Trusting his words, she quit her job, left her life abroad behind, and relocated to Lagos without even informing her close friends. And at first, it felt like a dream.
Debra recounted how she was warmly received upon arrival, with Johnson allegedly gifting her a necklace and celebrating his birthday with her the very next day.
According to her, for a brief moment, it seemed like the years of ups and downs had finally led them to a fresh start. But the fairytale didn’t last long. Just weeks later, things reportedly took a shocking turn.

A Dream Start That Didn’t Last
Debra claimed that after Johnson returned from a trip to the UK, she noticed a money-counting machine among his belongings. When she questioned him about it, he allegedly told her it was a gift from another woman. A confession that signaled a red flag.
Curiosity turned into suspicion, and according to her, a check on his phone exposed even more. She claimed the same woman had been romantically involved with him for about a year and that the discovery left her devastated.
When she confronted him, Debra alleged that the artist showed little remorse. Instead of meeting her face-to-face as planned, he reportedly ended their 13-year relationship through a voice note.
In the message, she claimed he told her he wanted to move on with someone else, adding bluntly that “now is the time” because he wasn’t getting any younger.
As if that wasn’t enough, she further alleged that her belongings were later sent back to her through a motor company, bringing a cold, abrupt end to what she thought was a lifelong commitment.
Now left picking up the pieces, Debra says the pain goes beyond heartbreak. For her, she is still asking why he would tell her to leave everything behind… only to walk away weeks later?
Segun Johnson at the time of this publication has not come out to publicly deny or affirm Debra’s story.
