Nigerian music video producer Femi Dapson has revealed why he left his position at Winners Chapel as an assistant to Bishop Oyedepo’s scretary. He explained that he took that decision, after working for three years, to pursue greater prospects in Lagos.

Dapson claimed that despite not having a university degree, he had already attained a high level in the church. He felt he was becoming too comfortable so he moved.

He recalls wearing suits and ties, meeting presidents, and working with church leaders. He eventually decided to leave. He left because he wanted to push himself and make more money.

After coming to Lagos, Dapson stated that he worked as a cleaner before applying for a position at a company. He competed without a degree against people with BSc.

Despite his lack of a university education he stated that the interviewers were impressed by his ability to articulate his thoughts. He demonstrated what he was capable of.

“I showed them dreams and they were so excited. I was telling them, ‘See, I’ll make your life easy. This is what I was doing in Winners.’”

Dapson eventually secured the role of a junior editor, marking another step in his career journey.

‘I’m Poor, You Are Poor and Our Family Is Poor’

Femi Dapson also explained the mentality behind a statement he made in a video where he said, “I’m poor, you are poor and our family is poor so why are we friends.”

The interviewer asked Dapson why he made the statement and how he developed such a mentality.

He explained that he grew up in an uncompleted building in a slum and had always known what he wanted from life. He said he knew where he was coming from and did not believe his life would end up the same way.

Dapson recalled watching his father struggle as a public bus driver. He said his father used the money he made from driving the bus to send him and his siblings to secondary school.

He said he saw his father’s struggles and decided that he did not want his own children to experience the same difficulties.

Dapson explained that he wants to make money so he can provide his children with the good things of life and give them a better experience than the one he had while growing up.
