Uganda’s presidential aspirant, Bobi Wine, says his life is under threat by Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Yoweri Museveni’s son and Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force.

Ugandan presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has released an official video calling on the international community to pay attention to what is going on in Uganda, as well as the threat to his life and that of his family after the general elections, which he lost to Yoweri Museveni.

During the election, the internet connectivity of the citizens was switched off, and it was only restored 10 days after the election. For four decades, President Yoweri Museveni has ruled over Uganda. Although their constitution allows for multi-party politics, the ruling National Resistance Movement has been in control ever since.

Bobi Wine alleges that the election was rigged and the president and his son are now after his life. Ever since the results were declared, he has gone into hiding.

CNN journalist Larry Madowo also captured screenshots of some deleted tweets by Muhoozi Kainerugaba threatening to kill Bobi Wine or as he calls him Kabobi.

On January, 25 2026, a video of Bobi Wine’s wife, Barbie  Kyagulanyi, in a hospital was released online, where she gave a statement on the attack carried out in her home and on her person by the military.

To refute her statement, Muhoozi posted a tweet stating that, indeed, the search of Bobi’s house was conducted; however, his soldiers did not beat his wife.

My soldiers did not beat up Barbie… Kabobi’s wife. First of all, we do not beat up women. They are not worth our time. We are looking for her cowardly husband, not her.

The hunt for Bobi Wine is actively ongoing, and the new goal, in Muhoozi’s words, is to bring him in either dead or alive. However, the latter tweets have been deleted, and all that remains are screenshots.

Bobi Wine, on the other hand, shared a screenshot of the tweet, showing the online community a written attempt and threat on his life.

In his words, “All because we challenged Dictator Museveni in an election in which he faced a resounding rejection across the country. He had to shut down the internet and declare himself ‘winner’ at gunpoint. We remain committed to freeing our nation from these savage criminals. We remain hopeful that the people of Uganda will have the last laugh. ‘Deep in my heart, I do believe, WE SHALL OVERCOME some day.
