A Nigerian lady, Chioma Oniniwu, has withdrawn her rape allegation against Singapore-based Nigerian footballer Victor Ebele.
Chioma previously accused Ebele of rape in 2025 through posts on X. She also alleged harassment by members of his family.
However, on August 28 and 31, 2026, she publicly retracted the allegation and apologised to Ebele and his family. Her retraction comes while a related legal matter remains before the court. She shared the retraction post and video on X with the handle Theechef7sn.
Chioma Oniniwu Rape Allegation Against Victor Ebele
In 2025, Chioma Oniniwu alleged that Victor Ebele raped her. She also accused his family of harassing her for speaking up.
She claimed Ebele’s mother and sister targeted her after she sought justice. Chioma also mentioned Victor’s brother, Frank Ebele, a professional footballer. According to her, Frank was protecting his brother during the dispute.
She further alleged that police officers bullied her when she visited a station in Abuja.
However, the claims later took a different turn.
Victor Ebele Denies The Rape Allegation
Victor Ebele, the Singapore-based Nigerian footballer, denied the allegations through the legal process. Chioma was arrested on Wednesday, August 26, and subsequently appeared in court. She was remanded before being granted bail, according to the information provided.
While the case remains before the court, Chioma later returned to X. She shared several posts and a video retracting her allegations and apologising to Victor and his family.
In her apology letter, Chioma expressed remorse for accusing Victor of rape. She also apologised for what she described as damage to his character and reputation.
“To Victor, I am truly sorry for the pain and damage my accusations caused you,” she wrote.

Chioma Accuses Victor’s Elder Brother Frank and Ebele Family
Chioma had previously accused Frank Ebele of protecting his brother. However, she has now apologised to Frank for the distress caused by the allegations.
In her apology, she acknowledged that her actions affected Victor’s reputation and the wider family. She also expressed regret over the circumstances surrounding the dispute.
Chioma extended her apology to the entire Ebele family. She said her accusations caused them embarrassment, pain and emotional distress.
“To the entire Ebele family, I sincerely apologise for the embarrassment, hurt, conflict, and disruption,” she said.
Chioma Apologises to Police
She also apologised to the Nigeria Police Force for what she described as unnecessary disruption.
“I take responsibility for my actions and deeply regret the way I handled what was a very difficult period,” she said.
Chioma explained that she was pregnant and overwhelmed by fear at the time. She said she feared being left alone to deal with the pregnancy. However, she acknowledged that her circumstances did not excuse her actions.
The development adds another twist to a controversy that began with serious allegations. However, the legal proceedings remain separate from her public apology.
