Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 kicks off today 21 December in Morocco, and the tournament has already found its rhythm.
As different African teams streamed into Morocco ahead of the 24-nation showdown, sharp travel fits, traditional fabrics, coordinated colours and spontaneous dance moves turned arrivals into moments of spectacle.
In true AFCON fashion, the arrivals felt like an opening ceremony of their own and a few African countries wore traditional attires that set them apart.
1. Senegal

The Lions of Teranga stepped out in immaculate white boubous with delicate gold detailing across the chest and neckline. Minimal accessories and matching caps completed the look.
2. Burkina Faso

The players are dressed in matching long-sleeved tunics with vertical stripes, combining soft shades of mint green, coral, white and light blue. Each tunic is paired with crisp white trousers.
3. Nigeria

True to form, Nigeria delivered one of the most striking entrances. The Super Eagles arrived in deep green traditional ensembles. The players wore loose-fitting tunics paired with tailored trousers.
4. Benin Republic

The team is dressed in matching traditional agbada-style tunics featuring vertical stripes in shades of blue, grey and white.
5. Les Coelacantes (Comoros)

Les Coelacantes are from East Africa, and their players are dressed in flowing ankle-length tunics (kanzu-style garments) in soft shades of cream and off-white, designed with gold embroidery running down the chest.
6. Mali

The Eagles stepped onto Moroccan soil in traditional Bogolan attire, a hand-woven outfit with symbolic patterns.
These attires show that the Africa Cup of Nations is more than a football tournament, it is a celebration of identity. But when Morocco face Comoros in the opening match on Sunday, the football will rightly take centre stage.
