Nigerian actor and entertainer Abdulgafar Abiola, popularly known as Cute Abiola, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ease the economic hardship in the country after he sold one of his cars to pay his colleagues.
The entertainer jokingly addressed the president as “my daddy” in a video he posted on his Instagram page on Friday, 6 November. He said the worsening economy forced him to sell the car so that he could settle the people he works with.
Cute Abiola says he cannot keep owing the people who work with him
Cute Abiola explained that he still has YouTube videos and other content to shoot, but he does not have the money to pay the people who feature in them. He said some people keep asking him for money, and they do not understand how difficult life has become.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, my daddy, I have come to sell one of my cars,” he said in the video. “I have to sell it so that I can make my life easier. Thank God I invested in cars. If I had not invested in cars when I had money, where would I have found money to sustain myself? I just have to sell it, sir, because I cannot keep owing people. I have to shoot more YouTube videos and content, so I will use this money to redeem myself, because some people are asking me for money and they won’t understand that things are not easy for now.”

The actor said he owns many cars but decided to sell only one. He prayed that the situation would never reach the point where he would sell his houses, and he extended the same prayer to everyone watching.
Through the video, Cute Abiola subtly asked the president to make life easier for Nigerians and stabilise the economy. He ended his message with a direct plea. “Sir, please help us, pity us,” he said.
Comedian complains that even his solar backup has failed
The video came a day after Cute Abiola shared another clip, on 5 November 2026, in which he criticised the Tinubu administration over Nigeria’s power crisis. He said even his solar backup had stopped working, and he begged for electricity because of the extreme heat and the hardship.
The comedian posted that clip on Instagram, and he urged the government to prioritise power supply over politics. “President Tinubu, my solar is off,” he said. He then mocked the advice to rely on alternative power. “Buy solar, buy solar. Solar sef dey off,” he said, meaning that even solar power has gone off.
