Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has faced criticism on social media after revisiting her TikTok promotional campaign for Oversabi Aunty. Her post came shortly after colleague Funke Akindele announced a partnership with Facebook to promote her forthcoming film, The Four: No One Fights Alone.

NBG Africa reported that Akindele announced partnership with Facebook on Thursday, October 29, 2026, saying she would use the platform to connect with audiences ahead of the film’s cinema release on December 11. The collaboration will give fans access to exclusive behind-the-scenes content, premiere preparations, film looks and other updates.

Following the announcement, Abraham drew attention to her own promotional campaign for Oversabi Aunty, recalling her collaboration with TikTok to market the film. However, the timing of her post did not sit well with some social media users. They questioned why she chose to revisit the campaign shortly after Akindele’s announcement.

Some critics interpreted the throwback as an attempt to invite comparisons between the filmmakers’ promotional strategies. The reaction has once again placed their professional activities under public scrutiny.

Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham’s Marketing Strategies Compared

The reactions reflect how closely audiences compare the two actresses. The scrutiny extends beyond their films and box-office performances to the strategies they use to promote their projects.

For Akindele, the Facebook partnership offers another opportunity to build anticipation for a major cinema release. It also allows her to use a global social media platform to reach potential viewers.

Abraham’s earlier TikTok collaboration, meanwhile, highlights how filmmakers increasingly use digital platforms to reach audiences. These strategies allow them to go beyond traditional trailers and promotional interviews.
