The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested popular TikTok creator Amani Ishaq along with two other women, Hauwa Khamis and Sa’adatu Muhammad. They were picked up over social media content the board says violates the state’s religious and moral standards.
Deputy Commander Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen confirmed the development in a statement. The three women were taken before Magistrate Court No. 5 on Court Road in Kano.

Why Kano Hisbah Arrested Amani Ishaq and Two Other Women
Hisbah specifically accused Ishaq of posting dance videos that it considers incompatible with Islamic teachings and accepted standards of moral upbringing on TikTok.
Officials described the content as offensive to public morality and contrary to the values the board seeks to uphold in Kano State.
The board is examining the videos as investigations continue. No further details have been released on the specific charges, whether the women were granted bail, or when the case is expected to return to court.
The Pattern of Hisbah Actions Against TikTokers
The Kano State Hisbah Board has repeatedly targeted content creators whose videos it views as crossing moral or religious lines.
In September 2026, Hisbah arrested TikToker Ukasha Yahaya (popularly known as UK International) after intelligence indicated he had entered Kano. He was detained over videos showing him dancing with, hugging, carrying, swimming, and bathing with women.

Yahaya, a 27-year-old from Zamfara State who lives in Abuja, apologised during interrogation. He said he was considering quitting such content as he prepared for marriage. Hisbah said he would be charged after investigations.
In August 2026, the board arrested another TikToker, Namadina Tudunwada, over a viral video. In the video he compared the cost of marriage to the cost of fornication. This the officials said promoted premarital sex and could mislead young people.
Earlier cases include the February 2024 arrest of TikTok personality Ramlat Princess. She was arrested over content alleged to promote lesbianism, and other actions against creators for vulgar or “indecent” videos.
In some instances, courts have sentenced TikTokers to fines, imprisonment, or other penalties for posting content deemed to violate the state’s religious and moral sensitivities.
Kano operates under a legal framework that includes Sharia-influenced regulations on public morality. The Hisbah Board is tasked with enforcing these standards. The board has increasingly focused on social media platforms such as TikTok, where dance, lifestyle, and entertainment content often circulate widely.
