Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has said Nigerians who fail to recognise the country’s progress may need “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses”.
Mrs Tinubu made the remark on Friday, October 23, in Abuja during an event organised by the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots group mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
She maintained that Nigeria was making progress and suggested that those who could not see the changes needed special eyeglasses to appreciate them.
Remi Tinubu Links ‘Bola Tinubu Eyeglasses’ to Jigi-Bola Initiative
The First Lady linked her remark to Jigi-Bola, an eye-care initiative her husband introduced in 2001 while serving as Lagos State governor.
The programme provided free eye screenings, eyeglasses and eye surgeries. The Lagos State Government relaunched the initiative in 2021.
“Things are happening in Nigeria, except, you know, those who don’t see, maybe we’ll give them some, Bola Tinubu eyeglasses. We are doing that, JigiBola,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu also pointed to improvements at Nigerian airports as evidence of the country’s progress.
“I want to get to the airport. I want to travel, you know, so quickly. And you can see our airports too are changing,” she said.

First Lady Hopes to Enjoy a Better Nigeria After Aso Rock
Mrs Tinubu expressed hope that she would leave the Presidential Villa in 2031 and enjoy a better Nigeria in her seventies.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me as a 70-something-year-old woman will enjoy,” she said.
Her remark reflected her hope for a country where she could enjoy life after her husband’s current presidential tenure.
Remi Tinubu Commissions Pro-Tinubu Movement’s Abuja Headquarters
The First Lady made the comments while commissioning the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement. The group is campaigning for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
She formally commissioned the facility and expressed confidence that her husband would win the 2027 presidential election.
The group is focused on grassroots mobilisation as supporters begin preparations for the next general election.
