Content creator King Mitchy has claimed that Afrobeats star Burna Boy has yet to reimburse social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) the N250 million used to build schools.
King Mitchy made the allegation during a recent streaming session with former Big Brother Naija housemate Phyna. According to her, VDM withdrew the funds from his NGO to execute the school projects, expecting the singer to pay him back, but Burna Boy still owes VDM.
In her words:
“Burna Boy never pay the 250 million na. So na from the NGO him withdraw money build the school say Burna Boy go pay, Burna Boy no pay.

Burna Boy Owes VDM: Background on the Project
The claim relates to the widely discussed school and clinic project in Burna Boy’s hometown, Odiokwu community in Rivers State.
Earlier reports and VDM’s own posts presented the initiative as a N250 million project funded by the Grammy-winning singer, with VDM supervising construction (handled by Fego Works Limited).
The development includes secondary school blocks, a clinic, fencing, streetlights, and other facilities. It was commissioned earlier in October 2026 after VDM shared videos and photos of the completed structures, including murals that reportedly cost N50 million.
At the time, VDM defended the overall spend, noting the number of structures involved. He also argued that a similar government project would have cost far more.
King Mitchy’s Statement
King Mitchy’s statement reframes the funding story. She suggests VDM used the money from his NGO on the understanding that Burna Boy would reimburse him, and that the repayment is still outstanding.
Neither Burna Boy nor VDM has publicly responded to the specific claim at the time of writing. The allegation has begun circulating on social media, with some users calling for clarity from both parties and others noting the history between King Mitchy and VDM.
