The family of late Nollywood actor Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has held his 8th Day Fidau prayer. The Islamic prayer attracted family members, friends and colleagues in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Ogogo’s first daughter, Kira, also returned to Nigeria after missing her father’s burial. Upon arriving in Ilaro, she visited his graveside and shared an emotional tribute.
The gathering later became a poignant reunion for Ogogo’s family and his colleagues. 
Kira Visits Her Father’s Graveside
Kira was outside Nigeria when Ogogo died and was buried in Ilaro. She returned to Nigeria for the 8th Day Fidau prayer held in his honour.
A day before the prayer, she visited her father’s final resting place.
Kira had earlier learnt about Ogogo’s death during a TikTok live session. The news reportedly left her heartbroken.
Sharing a photo from the graveside, she wrote:
“Spending time with my daddy, just like I used to at Odunfa whenever I missed him. I pray that Almighty Allah forgives your sins and shortcomings, Papa. You have all my love, forever and always.”
Ogogo’s Family Holds 8th Day Fidau
Meanwhile, the family organised the 8th Day Fidau prayer on Monday, August 31, at the Pavilion in Ilaro. Family members, friends and colleagues attended the Islamic gathering. The prayer followed Islamic tradition observed after a person’s death.
Ogogo’s colleagues also planned an artists’ night at the same venue later in the day. The event was expected to celebrate his life and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

Kira Leads the Family to Ogogo’s 8th Day Fidau Prayer
Shortly before the prayer began, Ogogo’s family arrived at the venue. Kira led her siblings into the gathering. Her arrival attracted journalists and photographers at the venue.
At one point, she expressed concern about the attention surrounding her. She later used her scarf to cover her face and conceal her emotions.
Her siblings and friends, dressed in white, followed closely behind.
During the prayer session, the wives and children of Ogogo were seen crying as the Muslim cleric preaches.
Yinka Quadri Welcomes Ogogo’s Children
As the family approached the canopy, Kira and her siblings greeted Yinka Quadri. He shared a warm embrace with the children of his longtime friend.
The emotional moment also affected the veteran actor. He discreetly wiped away a tear before the family noticed.
The gesture reflected the deep bond between Quadri and Ogogo.
Yinka Quadri Weeps Again at Ogogo’s 8th Day Fidau Prayer
During the prayer, Quadri received the microphone and addressed the mourners. He urged everyone to accept Ogogo’s death and take heart. He also expressed gratitude for the circumstances surrounding his friend’s final days.
Quadri noted that Ogogo was not bedridden for long before his death. He also said the actor was neither blind nor missing. According to him, Ogogo’s colleagues never needed to raise funds for his care.
Quadri further urged mourners to pay attention to their character. However, his emotions eventually overwhelmed him. The veteran actor broke down in tears while speaking about his longtime friend. He was eventually led away from the stage, he could not conclude his speech.

Oga Bello Pays His Respects
Veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, attended Ogogo’s 8th Day Fidau prayer. His presence added to the gathering of respected figures from the Yoruba film industry.
Salami who did not attend Ogogo’s burial because he was older and unavailable joined the ceremony virtually.
Oga Bello arrived the 8th Fidau prayer alongside Prince Jide Kosoko. Their presence further highlighted the actor’s longstanding influence within Yoruba cinema.
Other members present included Abbey Lanre and Dele Odule. Ebun Oloyede, popularly known as Olaiya Igwe, also attended. Wale Akorede, Monsuru Obadina, known as Fala, and Hafeez Oyetoro were present.
Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin, who is also the president of TAMPAN also joined the mourners. Kelvin Ikeduba, Odunlade Adekola and Segun Ogungbe, Wale Sanusi and IsbaeU were also among those present.
Their presence demonstrated the widespread impact of Ogogo’s career.
Ogogo’s Legacy Lives On
The 8th Day Fidau prayer provided another emotional moment for Ogogo’s loved ones. His family, friends and colleagues gathered to honour his memory. For many Yoruba actors, the gathering also marked the loss of a colleague and mentor.
Ogogo spent decades building a respected career across stage plays, home videos and modern productions. His legacy remains deeply connected to the growth of Yoruba cinema.
