Yinka Quadri has broken his silence over the death of his closest friend, industry partner and confidant, Taiwo Hassan Ogogo.
In a deeply sad tribute on Instagram, Quadri, a veteran actor himself, reminisced about his lifetime of shared memories and loyalty.
Ogogo, who passed away on August 23, 2026, after a battle with stage-four cancer, was buried in his hometown, Ilaro, in Ogun State the next day in line with Islamic rites.

Yinka Quadri’s Unfiltered Grief at Ogogo’s Burial
Yinka Quadri’s devastation was felt at the burial as he cried throughout the interment, struggling with the pain of the loss. Quadri’s grief was unfiltered. Multiple videos from the burial showed him crying uncontrollably. His eyes were swollen as he clutched a white handkerchief to his mouth at several intervals.
The depth of that pain told its own story even before any words were written.
In his tribute, Quadri spoke with the honesty of a man who had just buried a brother:
“Today, with a heavy heart, I thank God for the beautiful life you lived, my bosom friend, Taiwo Hassan Ogogo. I thank God that you did not have to go through a prolonged struggle that would have left us constantly seeking financial assistance to care for you. I thank God that your illness did not keep us moving you from one place to another in search of help. Above all, I thank God for the life He gave you and the memories you left behind.”
A Spark of Hope at the Hospital
Quadri wrote about his unforgettable experience at the hospital ward. He narrated that while lying on his sickbed, Ogogo looked at the tears streaming down his face and said the words that still echo: “Yinka, don’t cry. Nothing bad will happen to me.” Quadri answered, “Yes, Amen.”
Moments later, Ogogo asked for a bottle of water, drank from it, and proudly asked the doctors to confirm that he had eaten that morning. When they did, Quadri’s hope surged. “Glory be to God,” he said. The doctors simply advised them to remain prayerful.
Deep down, Quadri knew it was not his friend’s wish to leave so soon, not his children, not his family, not the many who loved him. Yet, as painful as it is, they must accept the unquestionable will of God.

“We Were Twins from Heaven”
Yinka Quadri’s tribute to Taiwo Hassan Ogogo also revisited the decades-long friendship that shaped both men’s careers. Their friendship, which began in 1984, was never ordinary. It was one of the closest friendships the Yoruba Nollywood industry had.
“I have always said that we were twins from heaven, only born to different mothers,” Quadri wrote.
Together with Abbey and others, they co-founded the Odunfa Caucus in 1986. Forty years later, the group still stands, having trained generations of Yoruba actors. Quadri became life president; Ogogo remained his closest collaborator and the vice president.
A Friendship of Love that Stood the Test of Time
Quadri revealed that people tried to create distance between them. There were rumours of fights swirling for years. Yet neither of them ever went to the press to speak against the other. When outsiders expected drama at public functions or at movie locations, they instead found the two sitting side by side, laughing, chatting, and walking together as if nothing had happened. They were inseparable.
An old interview of Ogogo that resurfaced after his death captured the same truth from the other side. Ogogo described Quadri as the person he loved the most, the one he became closer to than even the person who first introduced them.
Quadri admits that the space Ogogo has left behind is one that words cannot fill. “You may have left this world,” Quadri concluded, “but you will never leave my heart.
