Pastor Andrew Emajere of COGA Ministries has criticised Evangelist Tonto Dikeh’s decision to establish a prayer ministry.

The pastor questioned the actress-turned-evangelist’s spiritual journey and qualifications for leading a ministry. His comments followed reports that Dikeh had opened a new prayer ministry in Abuja.

Emajere argued that the rapid growth of Christian ministries requires greater scrutiny. His remarks have since sparked debate about who should establish and lead churches.

‘What Does Tonto Dikeh Know Spiritually?’

Emajere questioned what convinced the former actress to establish a prayer ministry.

“What does Tonto Dikeh know in the spiritual world?” he asked.

He also asked how she progressed from her previous public life into church leadership.

“Which day did she repent in Pastor Jerry Eze’s church?” he asked.

The pastor then seek further about how Dikeh became a General Overseer.

“How did we arrive here?” he added.

However, his remarks centred on concerns about the growing involvement of public figures in Christian ministry. He suggested that popularity should not automatically translate into spiritual leadership.

Tonto Dikeh: Pastor calls for church leadership screening

Emajere proposed stricter screening for people seeking to establish churches.

“If I become president, before you can open a church, you must pass through screening,” he said.

According to him, such measures could help restore public confidence in Christianity. He also compared Christian leadership with Islamic religious structures.

“Have you seen a woman open a mosque and call herself a female Imam or Alfa?” he asked.

He argued that Christianity faces growing criticism because of developments within some religious circles. Consequently, he called for greater accountability among church leaders. His proposal, however, raises broader questions about religious freedom and who should regulate ministry activities.

Comments on women and ‘Mummy GO’

The pastor also expressed concerns about the growing influence of female church leaders. He linked the emergence of “Mummy GO” culture with what he described as changing family dynamics.

“Women started disrespecting their husbands since the emergence of ‘Mummy GO’,” he claimed.

Emajere also made a controversial remark about Dikeh’s domestic responsibilities. He questioned whether she had completed her responsibilities at home before entering ministry. His comments have generated debate about gender roles, celebrity pastors and religious leadership.

Meanwhile, Dikeh’s new ministry has placed her latest chapter firmly in the public spotlight. Her transition from Nollywood to Christian ministry continues to attract attention.
