Aliko Dangote has taken another major step toward expanding Nigeria’s industrial capacity. The billionaire businessman recently signed a major agreement with Chinese engineering company Sinoma International to expand the Dangote Cement Plant in Itori, Ogun State.
Dangote Industries and Sinoma International signed the $800 million agreement to increase the plant’s production capacity and support Nigeria’s growing cement market.
The expansion project will help Dangote Cement meet rising local demand while increasing exports to international markets. Once completed, the project will double the plant’s annual production capacity from 6 million metric tonnes to 12 million metric tonnes.
Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, and Lin Zhong, Chairman of Sinoma International, formally signed the agreement.
The expansion will strengthen Dangote Cement’s ability to serve domestic customers and grow its presence in export markets. The project also supports the Federal Government’s policy of prioritising concrete construction for national road infrastructure.
