The 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards, known as AFRIMMA, celebrated African music’s biggest stars and emerging talents.
The ceremony took place on September 12, at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas. Organisers presented the event in a festival format.
The annual awards recognise artistes and creative talents strengthening Africa’s influence worldwide. This year, Davido, Juma Jux and several other stars earned major recognition. 
Davido Claims Album of the Year
Davido emerged as the most-nominated artiste of the night, receiving five nominations. However, his biggest success came in the Album of the Year category.
His acclaimed album, 5IVE, defeated projects by Burna Boy, Omah Lay, Asake and Tyla. It consequently secured the night’s top album prize.
The victory further highlights Davido’s continuing influence on African music and its global audience.
Juma Jux Receives Special Recognition
Tanzanian singer Juma Jux also enjoyed a memorable night after winning the Music Without Borders Award.
The honour recognised his contribution to connecting audiences across countries through music. His international collaborations have continued to strengthen his profile across Africa.
Juma Jux’s win also added another highlight to a ceremony that celebrated African music’s growing global reach.

Other nominees included Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, Omah Lay, Asake, Black Sherif, Tyla and Flavour.
The winners reflected the diversity and international appeal of African music. They also demonstrated the continent’s growing strength within the global entertainment industry.
