The Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Grammy Awards brings together artists whose music has travelled far beyond their home countries and resonated with listeners across Africa and the rest of the world.
This year’s nominees reflect the diversity of African sounds, with artists from Southern, Western, and Eastern Africa earning recognition for songs that recorded strong global streaming numbers and international attention.
Best African Music Performance 2026
Tyla – Push 2 Start (Winner)
South African singer Tyla won the award for ‘Push 2 Start’, a track that had widespread global success. The song has more than 614 million streams across all music platforms, making it the strongest performance in the category.
Davido – With You
Davido received a nomination for With You featuring Omah Lay, a record that has further cemented his global reach. The song accumulated more than 212 million streams worldwide.
Burna Boy – Love, Damini
Burna Boy was also nominated with Love, Damini, a project that continued his international run and attracted about 78 million streams.

Ayra Starr – Gimme Dat
Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid earned their place in the category with Gimme Dat. The song showcased Afrobeat’s growing influence beyond Africa and recorded approximately 60 million streams.
Eddy Kenzo – Hope & Love
Representing East Africa, Ugandan artist Eddy Kenzo was nominated for Hope & Love, rounding out the list of contenders in the category.
