Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has publicly rejected her inclusion in the All Progressives Congress(APC) Lagos State Campaign Council.
Her name had appeared on the list of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate released on Thursday, September 17, by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre.
In a clear statement shared on her X, Ajeyemi wrote: 
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently, I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee.”

The Effect of Her Political Involvement in 2023
Ajeyemi’s decision aligns with a stance she has taken and maintained recently. During the 2023 presidential election, she openly supported Bola Tinubu and the APC.
That support drew intense online criticism, with some Nigerians calling for boycotts of her films. She later said the backlash affected her professionally, including the performance of projects such as Malaika and Ijakumo: The Born-Again Stripper.
In March, while speaking with actor Timini Egbuson, Ajeyemi advised colleagues to remain neutral in politics. She admitted her earlier public endorsement had consequences and stated she had learnt her lesson.
“The first advice I will give you in my entire life is, don’t put your mouth in politics. Don’t tell them you’re supporting anybody. Don’t support anybody, just be on your own. Be neutral,” she said.
The APC Lagos campaign council, chaired by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu with Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as deputy chairman, is scheduled for inauguration on Friday, 18 September.
Ajeyemi’s swift rejection makes her the first high-profile entertainer on the entertainment director list to formally distance herself from the structure.
At the time of this report, no other prominent names on the same list which includes Prince Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Pasuma, Obesere, Adewale Ayuba, Oga Bello, or Bimbo Akintola and more, have publicly rejected their appointment.
