Author Toni Tones has revealed the deal she made with her husband over the number of children they will have.
Toni Tone, whose full name is Toni Omotola Adenlé, is a British-Nigerian author and content creator best known for her bestselling relationship book, I Wish I Knew This Earlier: Lessons on Love.
She is married to Taiwo Ogebule, popularly known online as Taye9ja, a content creator with whom she had been in a long-distance relationship before their engagement in June 2024. The couple held their wedding in Lagos in September 2025 after previously sharing parts of their relationship with their online audiences.
Speaking during an appearance on Ask the Universe, Tones said her husband wants five children. However, she has not agreed to have all five automatically.
Instead, she said his behaviour as a husband and father will determine how many children she will birth.
“My husband wants five kids, and I told him, ‘We’ve made a deal,’” she said. “The amount of children you have is going to correspond to your behaviour as a husband and father.”
Toni Tones Plans to Decide After Each Child
Tones explained that she plans to approach the decision one child at a time.Their experience with the first child will determine whether she wants another.
“If you have one and you are like father of the year, I’ll give you a second,” she said.
She added that her husband’s treatment of her would also influence the decision.
“If you have two and I feel like I am queen of the world based on how you treat me and the kids, you have three.”
Tones said she would continue with the same approach as their family grows. She jokingly added that she would stop having more children once she notices a decline in his performance.
“I am going to cap you when your form starts slipping,” she said.
She wants their experience of marriage and parenthood to guide their child bearing decisions.
Her Husband, Taye 9ja Wants Five Children

Five children remain her husband’s preferred family size, according to Tones. She did not rule out eventually having that number. However, she made it clear that reaching five would depend on what happens after each child.
Under the arrangement she described, they would assess how they handle parenthood before expanding their family again.
Her husband’s involvement with the children will form part of that assessment. Tones also expects him to continue treating her well as they take on the responsibilities of raising a family.
If the experience after their first child meets her expectations, she would consider having a second. The same condition would apply before a third and subsequent children.
