The issue of insecurity in Nigeria has continued to generate public concern, especially following the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State.
Many Nigerians have expressed worry over the incident and have repeatedly called on the government to strengthen security efforts and ensure the safe return of those abducted. Citizens have also urged authorities to take stronger measures to address the growing insecurity across the country.
Amid the ongoing discussions, gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori shared a video in which she stressed the importance of prayer in addressing the country’s challenges. She stated that prayer remains a powerful tool and urged Nigerians not to allow political interests to divide them.

She said:
“When government officials tell you that prayers are not working, believe me, prayers are working. Don’t let anybody use you for political purposes. From the president to the last person in this country, we all need prayers. Every parastatal and every sector needs prayer.”
Speaking further, she added:
“Those children are our children. You cannot say that the president or the vice president is not doing what they have to do. They are working.”
In another part of the video, Alaseyori suggested that spiritual factors could have affected security operations.
She said in Yoruba:
“Even the security personnel might have been there to rescue the children, but the charm the abductors used could have made it not possible to see where the kidnappers and teachers were held captive.”
Her comments gained reactions online and drew criticism from fellow gospel singer Victoria Orenze.

Responding to the video, Orenze questioned Alaseyori’s position and criticised the Nigerian government.

She wrote:
“Which government is working? Which government??????? The Nigerian government, politicians and leaders have failed Nigeria and Nigerians. Period!”
In a post on Instagram, Orenze also expressed disappointment in some ministers and church members whom she accused of using the name of God for personal gain.
She wrote:
“Whenever a few people benefit from a government, they say the government is working because they do not care about the good of the majority of Nigerians. They only care about their pockets and stomachs.”
She continued:
“God cannot be mocked. God does not support selfishness, wickedness, greed, pretence, hypocrisy, or evil. Anyone who claims to know God and represent God while supporting evil and wickedness does not know God at all.”
Many Nigerians also reacted to Alaseyori’s comments on social media, saying that it’s not about prayers alone; actions need to be taken to rescue the children and the teachers that were kidnapped.

A point was made that even in Israel, where people trust in God, they don’t fight insecurity with prayers alone; they take actions through their security systems.
One user tweets:
“You want to pray to the God of Israel, but the people of Israel do not fight insecurity with prayers alone. They also take action through their security systems.”
Another user tweets:
“Prayer without accountability is just a way to delay real solutions.”
A resurfaced video showing gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has gained reactions online. Many Nigerians claim the video explains her support for the current administration and her reasons for praising and supporting the Nigerian president instead of speaking out about the country’s insecurities.
The issue has generated widespread reactions online. While some Nigerians believe prayer plays an important role in addressing national challenges, others argue that authorities must take stronger action to tackle insecurity, protect citizens, and ensure the safety of those affected by violent attacks.
