The head pastor of Salvation Ministries in Rivers State, David Ibiyeomie, claims that his prayers stopped American rapper 50 Cent from visiting Port Harcourt for a concert he had organised on the same day as a crusade.

In a now-viral video, Ibiyeomie told the crowd that he prayed against the rapper’s scheduled visit because it clashed with his own event. He stated that despite heavy publicity for the concert, he remained certain the rapper would not attend because of his “divine backing.”

He also claimed that 50 Cent faced difficulties after arriving in Lagos and eventually returned to the United States, an outcome he attributed to the power of his spoken word.

“When 50 Cent was at his peak, organisers scheduled him to come to Port Harcourt on the same day I held a crusade. I knew that if he came, even believers would attend his concert, so I prayed,” he said.

“He had already secured a booking, and promoters had widely advertised the event. I declared that if he came, then God did not call me, and he would not come. The humbling part is that he arrived in Lagos to fly to Port Harcourt but encountered issues”.

“The word had gone forth, so he returned to America, and people who bought tickets attended the crusade instead.”

In 2004, the rapper travelled to Nigeria for the second phase of the annual Star Mega Jams concert, which organisers scheduled to take place in Port Harcourt.

However, a fight broke out on a Lagos-bound flight between him and Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem over seating arrangements, which forced him to cut the trip short and return to the United States with his entourage.
