Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, has spoken about singer’s influence. He revealed how his presence and music have been felt in Nigeria and across the world.
Speaking on The Manager’s Playbook podcast, Asika mentioned the extent of Davido’s influence in the country and across the world. He based his view on Davido’s large social media following in Nigeria among other things.
Asika stated that Davido is the most influential person from Nigeria below the age of 40. He also described the singer, popularly called OBO, as one of the most influential Nigerians in terms of social media.

He based his statement on Davido’s popularity across different countries, his musical concerts in different parts of the world and his multiple Grammy Award nominations.
“Davido is probably the most influential person from Nigeria below the age of 40, in my opinion, social media wise. No argument.”
“Some people will argue about the things but let’s use the most popular metric today which is social media. Davido is probably the most followed artist on almost every social media platform.”
Asika also noted that he tells Davido all the time that he is like the president of Nigeria. He highlighted some of the risks and things Davido does that could have seriously affected another artist’s career.

Davido’s manager said:
“I joke with him all the time and he laughs about it. I’m like ‘do you know that you are like the president of Nigeria? Right, there are things I have seen David do and be like if someone else did this they would never ever get back.”
Davido has a large fan base known as 30BG. He has also played a role in politics by leading youth campaign that made his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State.
The singer has also built a strong reputation through his music, which attracts listeners in Nigeria and across the world. His presence also continues to draw attention wherever he performs.
Davido has also used his platform to support charitable causes. In 2021, he raised more than ₦200 million from friends and fans for his birthday and personally added ₦50 million, bringing the donation to ₦250 million. He later distributed the funds to 292 orphanages across Nigeria.

OBO has also spoken out on social issues. During the #EndSARS protests in 2020. He joined calls for police reform and engaged with government officials over the concerns raised by protesters.
His influence, therefore, extended beyond music, with his social media presence, charitable activities and public involvement. All these help him maintain a strong connection with his fans in Nigeria and beyond.
