‘Thank You, Africa. I Will Be Back’
After what has been a fun rollercoaster ride, the ‘Speed Does Africa’ tour comes to an end.
For several Africans and Americans, this tour changed the perception of Africa. Many Black Americans and other non-African viewers of his stream admit this change. For them, the tour has corrected dominant yet false narratives about Africa.
For example, after Speed visited the House of Slaves on Gorée Island, Pape Seye, a Senegalese resident, commented on the image shift. In his words, “Americans, especially Black Americans, need to know that our histories are tied, that many of our ancestors might have been deported from Gorée.”
Celebrities like Akon have also appreciated Speed for showing the world what Africa is really about.
Now, thanks to his massive online following, the world can see that Africa is more than crisis, poverty, and corruption. As for iShowSpeed, he’s full of thanks for what he calls the Greatest Of All Tours (GOAT).
He wrapped up the tour in Namibia with the promised DNA reveal, showing he’s “100% AFRICAN.” Recall that during a live stream in Ghana, iShowSpeed opened up about his family roots. He traced it to Ghana through his mother and revealed plans to buy a property in the country. In his words, “I am back home, there ain’t no better feeling.”

He shared an Instagram post thanking every African country for the amazing hospitality and love they showed. He also promised to give back to the communities he visited during his Africa tour by launching a donation campaign to support local organisations.
