A female passenger reportedly caused a disruption on an Air Peace flight on Thursday, September 3, after refusing to leave her assigned seat. The incident reportedly occurred after airline staff told her the aircraft was fully booked.

According to Nollywood actor, Kevin Mike, who was on the flight, the female passenger was asked to take the next available flight. However, she allegedly refused to comply. She insisted that she had a valid seat on the flight which another female passenger had occupied.

She also noted that she has been in the airport since 6am and would not give up her allotted seat. In protest, the aggrieved passenger sat on the floor of the aircraft, refusing to come down from it.

The dispute reportedly delayed the flight as staff attempted to resolve the situation.

Passenger Refuses to Leave Air Peace Flight

Air Peace staff reportedly announced that a passenger needed to take the next available flight for the aggrieved woman to fly in the plane. They offered a 50 per cent discount as an incentive to any willing passenger.

However, no passenger initially volunteered to give up their seat. The female passenger reportedly continued arguing that she had been properly assigned a seat on that particular flight. She allegedly insisted that another passenger had taken her place. The situation soon attracted attention from other passengers on board.

Meanwhile, the airline reportedly tried to find a solution without further escalating the disagreement.

A female passenger was asked to wait for the next available flight because the aircraft was already fully booked. She refused and insisted that someone had taken her seat. The Air Peace staff then made an announcement asking if any passenger would be willing to volunteer to take the next flight in exchange for a 50% discount. No one volunteered. Two Passengers Accept 50% Discount

The standoff reportedly continued for some time as the passenger refused to leave. Eventually, two passengers agreed to take the next available flight. They reportedly accepted the 50 per cent discount offered by the airline.

Their decision allowed the female passenger to remain on the aircraft. Consequently, the flight could reportedly proceed after the seat dispute was resolved.

The incident, however, has raised questions about how the situation occurred. Passengers may reasonably ask how an apparently fully booked flight had conflicting seat assignments.

Incident Raises Questions About Check-In Process

The incident has also sparked concerns about airline check-in and seat allocation procedures. If the passenger had a valid seat assignment, questions remain about how another passenger occupied it.

Similarly, the circumstances surrounding the reported overbooking remain unclear. Airlines need effective systems for handling such disputes before they affect other passengers.

Passengers also deserve clear explanations when seat allocation problems occur. For the affected travellers, the disruption reportedly meant an unexpected change to their travel plans.

Although two passengers eventually accepted the airline’s offer, the incident highlights the importance of swift resolution.

A clear process could prevent similar disputes from leaving entire flights waiting.
